Ocean Jasper

Ocean Jasper originates from the island Madagascar, off the east coast of Africa.

It is is a variety of orbicular jasper, a type of jasper named for the spherical shapes that pattern the stone.

Deposits of orbicular jasper can be found in other locations around the world, but only Ocean Jasper displays such a beautiful range of colours.

The Ocean Jasper deposit was located offshore and was only accessible during low tide. This made mining for the gem a difficult prospect that had to be carefully planned.

Unfortunately the deposit of Ocean Jasper has been mined out and no new deposits have been located. This means that the price of the stone is increasing and it will become more difficult to obtain.
