Tool Magic is a heavy duty rubber coating that you apply to the tips of your pliers in order to prevent tools marks on your wire and findings, creating a professional look to all your creations.
You will need to create a workspace before you open your jar. Tool Magic has a very strong odor. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area. You’ll need some newspaper to protect your tabletop and a place for your pliers to dry after they have been dipped. Keep them upright so that the coating doesn’t pool on the tips. A tool rack like the one below is idea.
Before you use Tool Magic you need to stir it up so that it is not lumpy. You can make your own stirrer out of a few scraps of wire or buy a small whisk at your local grocer’s kitchen tool section.
Just dip the tips of your pliers into the jar as far as you like but don’t dip the hinge. Slowly draw them out and hang them up for 2-4 hours.
Once dried, the coating won't chip or crack. Tool Magic dries smooth and soft so your pliers will really grip without ever marring your wire again.
Tool Magic is not permanent; once you've finished working with it just peel it off the tips! You'll get as many as 100 applications out of one 2 ounce jar. One bottle has about a 1 year shelf life.
