LIGHTNING LAPS

This range of laps uses conventional abrasives, or gives you the option of charging your own lap with your preferred polishing medium. Make your choice from the drop down list.

CERIUM OXIDE

This polishing lap is coated with 99.9% optical-grade proprietary Cerium. The Cerium has a very durable coating designed to be used with water only!

Very little pressure is needed to produce a "tugging, or pulling action" from the stone on the coating surface.

The Cerium Coating is primarily used to polish the "Quartz Family" of gemstones, including quartz, glass, beryl, scapolite, spodumene(kunzite), labradorite, othoclase, tansanite, topaz, Ethiopian & Mexican Opal, Iolite, feldspar, bytownite, laser glass, leaded glass, and many others.

LINDE-A

This polishing lap is coated with Linde-A (0.3 Micron) with a Moh’s hardness of 9, in a resin bonding. The lap has a very durable coating and is designed to be used with water only!

Very little pressure is needed to produce a "tugging, or pulling action" from the stone on the coating surface.

The A1 Coating is primarily used to polish a variety of stones including Tsavorite, garnet, peridot and sometimes quartz.

ALUMINIUM OXIDE

The A2-BRUTUS is Coated with a special alumina that is sure to change the way you've been faceting and polishing.

We recommend using a coffee filter to protect the 'down-side' of your lap. Fast, Flat, Aggressive, quick polishing on most soft to hard gem materials. The A2-BRUTUS is to be used with just water.

Use 600-200K Diamond and Oxides for cutting and polishing on the natural side. Thoroughly clean between polishes. The A2-BRUTUS is so durable that even after hundreds of stones, none have worn out! Try the LL-A2 BRUTUS today! You'll be glad you did!

NATURAL

Lightning Lap “Naturals” are a lap that you can charge with your desired polishing media. They are harder than cast iron, high temperature resistant, non-conductive and non-corrosive.

“Natural” laps can be used with Cerium, Tin or Aluminium Oxides, as well as diamond powders, sprays or compounds. Any polish can be used including BATTSticks.

If using Oxides then use water as your lubricant. For loose diamond grits use Baby Oil, WD40, Olive Oil, or Silicone Extender.

Lightning Lap Naturals should be run at speeds of 100-300rpm for most materials, or 600rpm plus for corundum.

Natural Lightning Laps will not retain diamond particles after thorough cleaning.
